Cyber bullying is a form of bullying that happens online or on the internet as well as through technology or electronic devices. According to Justin Patchin, a co-director of the Cyber bullying Research Center, “It emboldens some kids to bully who wouldn’t otherwise because they can hide behind a computer screen”. It can happen via text, via email, or via social media sites such as Facebook, twitter, or Instagram. In fact, 2007 statistics showed that 43% of surveyed middle school and high school students said they’d experienced some form of cyber bullying in the prior 12 months. |
The Effects of a TextTexting someone a mean comment is cyberbullying. You may just be messing around, but you never know how the person on the other end can take that comment and be affected by it. Once you send something, you can’t take it back; it’s out there forever.

Don’t Send That EmailEmailing someone a mean comment is also cyberbullying. Emails get across almost the same way as text messages, so once again, when it’s out there, it’s out there forever. As well as texting, messing around and writing a mean comment then pushing that send button is the wrong thing to do which could negatively have an impact on someone.

The Dangers of a PostPosting a mean comment on a social media site such as facebook, twitter, or instagram is cyberbullying as well. Once you make a post, you can’t get rid of it; it’s always going to be out there for everyone to see. You are not supposed to use social media for bad: to say mean things, because it can be very hurtful and you never know how those people will be affected by that one comment.
